It was on this trip I realized that an American here was treated like a celebrity. The second trip I made to Riga is when I had my first encounter with a Russian woman and believe me things changed in what I expect from a lady from that day on. I now realize that the treatment the ladies gave me is why I sold my business in the USA and moved to Riga.
Not saying there as a problem with the American woman, but the Russian and later the Latvian ladies have a sensuousness that I had never experienced and I spent four years as a sea going US Marine. The last two years have been an adventure that the only way you will believe is for you to come and let me show you.
First, a little about Riga and the country of Latvia. Latvia, until 1991, had been controlled by Soviet Russia nearly 50 years and the remnants of the former Soviet Union still hamper Latvia's desire to join the modern world. When I first came here the country was 40 or so years behind the western world and starving for anything western, especially American. The average citizen of Latvia has a very difficult existence and if not a citizen (Russian) and even more difficult time.
Latvia is located almost directly across the Baltic Sea from Stockholm, Sweden and bordered to the north by Estonia, to the south by Lithuania and the east by Russia and Belarussia. The population is nearly 50/50 ethnic Latvian and Russian peoples with a small mix of people from other former Soviet states. Average income is about $200 to $300 per month and the cost of living is very high when compared to salaries of the people. Private property seems to be something of the privileged few as the majority of the population lives in government control apartments built during Soviet times by the Soviet army.
Have your ever heard of a country that has a language police? Well Latvia does and if you are a Russian or other nationality you are not suppose to be able to work in the country if you can't speak the Latvian language. Riga, the capital of Latvia is a very picturesque city with a certain old world charm from the days prior to Soviet times when Riga was known as the "Paris" of the North. Enough of trying to describe the country.
What's really important, the Ladies of Latvia, especially Riga. They are some of the prettiest I have ever seen, if you love good legs, Riga is the leg capital of the world. The women here are of two varieties, Latvian and Russian. The Latvian ladies are very close in appearance to the women of Scandinavian, tall,slim, blue eyes (bedroom blue) and natural blonde hair. The Russian woman can be the sexiest woman you've ever seen and she loves to flaunt her wonderful looks and what can be an aggressive attitude toward the man she has her eye on.
As an overweight, middle-aged American I could not believe that I could ever find any place in the world where one younger woman would show an interest in me and to have three or four at the time trying for my attention, well I am still amazed. I had been lying on my couch in South Carolina dreaming of beautiful ladies for fifteen years and lo and behold here I was with the sexiest ladies I have ever known lying in my bed.
Guys, after four years here I've decide the greatest asset this little country has is its women and they know the value and how to use their " ASSets. " You should come here and let me introduce to some of these ladies. OK, guys, what about a once in a life time adventure, I'll can even make it look like a business trip for tax or wife purposes. I believe, a week or ten days in Riga will have you looking for reason to come back.
Thur are several major western style hotels with a price range starting at $100 per day breakfast included. Another possibility is to stay in a private apartment which I can arrange for you for $50/60 per day and if you and a friend come together just add another $15.
The major airlines that fly into Riga are SAS, Finnair, Lufthansa, and the major USA airlines into London and then Air Baltic to Riga. I understand that LOTT (the Polish airline) flies into Riga through Prague from Chicago and JFK, NY three times a week, round trip ticket $less than $700.00 with an open return date.

Remember: No visa is required for travel of USA Citizens coming to Latvia, you get an automatic 90 visa
